Dr. Brent is a vocal jazz educator, pianist, arranger and performer. He has performed with such artists as Bobby McFerrin, Mel Torme, Ingrid Jensen, Dick Oatts as well as Latin Grammy award-winner Obie Bermudez. Dr. Brent was the director of vocal jazz studies at the University of North Texas (Denton, TX) and the University of the Arts (Philadelphia, PA), and Northern Illinois University (Dekalb, IL). He has been a guest clinician at many state music education conventions (NY, DE, VA, CT, NJ, and PA) as well as regional American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) and Music Educators National Conference (MENC) conventions. While at Western Michigan he was a member of the vocal jazz ensemble Gold Company and was also a teaching assistant and member of the vocal jazz ensemble JV 1 while attending the University of Miami.
